What Is Wine?

Wine is an alcoholic beverage that comes from grapes that are fermented. The process to make wine varies slightly between Red, White, and Rosé.

Where Did Wine Originate?

Wine originated in 6000 BCE in the country of Georgia, which is located where Eastern Europe and Western Asia meet.

How Is Wine Made?

Red wine and white wine are made a bit differently. For white wine the juice is extracted from grapes and then fermented. For red wine, the grapes (including the skin) are fermented. Rosé is made with fermented grape juice that includes the skin for a short period of time, rather than throughout the whole process like red wine. 

What Types of Wine Are There?

Some varietals of red wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz/Syrah, and Zinfandel. Some white wine varietals are Chardonnay, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc. Rosé is a blush wine.
